Best RGB Portable Photography Lights: OMBAR Panel Review

The OMBAR RGB Video Light was the subject of this review. The product is simple and easy to review. Although there are many other products available on Amazon, the main selling point of this product is the low price.

Overview

If you hadn’t already guessed, this is a small pocketable RGB LED light panel with 1/4″ threaded holes that can be mounted on cameras and tripods. The panel can be used for product and night photography, as well as other photography uses.

I have used it mainly for product photos. Lighting is something I have to work on. I’m not a great photographer. While I do have several lightboxes, large LED panels, and a large lightbox, each one has its limitations. I’m just too lazy and inept to setup them each time I have to take photos.

These portable lights are easy to store on your desk and you can quickly grab them when you need them.

Used

The mount can be attached to the camera using the small hot shoe. It was mostly used with a tripod.  

It’s very simple to use. It can be charged via USB-C and powered up. The buttons at the side allow you to control the lighting.

The default mode allows you to adjust the colour temperature from 2500K-8500K. This can be adjusted by pressing the up or down buttons.

The setting switch will be activated by pressing the button. It will change to brightness from 0% up to 100%.

It will switch the mode by pressing the power button quickly. You can choose from three colour temperatures: HSV, RGB or FX. HSV, RGB and FX give you more control over lighting colours. FX also has 12 lighting modes to choose from for different flashing and pulse effects.

Although I don’t have any data on the brightness, it seems very bright to me. It is difficult to see when it is bright.

Amazon’s Best RGB Portable Photography Lighting

Amazon sells many products that are similar to yours. Many of these products are more expensive than the average.

The OMBAR RGB Portable light is £45.95 on Amazon, and there is a 30% off voucher available, taking it down to around £30.

Lume Cube appears to be the top brand that is recommended and has three products

The Lume Cube RGB Panel Pro is the top of the range option at £150. Bluetooth lets you pair it to an app that allows for greater control.

Lume Cube Panel GO is well-reviewed at £100, which has 112 LEDs with 1.5 hours at max brightness of 1050 LUX. The colour range is smaller than that of the previous panel, ranging from 3200K up to 5600K.

Then the smaller Lume Cube Panel Mini LED Light is £70

The Godox M1 RGB LED Video Light is £125, and the stand out feature here is it’s built-in hinged bracket allowing you to prop it up or mount it at different angles. The light also features a 2410mAh lithium battery, 2500k-8500k adjustable and a 2500k-8500k power supply.

The Luminfox LED video light is at the lower end of this spectrum. It appears that the diffuser is built into this light to produce a soft, smoother lighting effect. It is nearly identical to OMBAR, which has 2500-8500K LEDs and a 4000mAh rechargeable battery.

Llano RGB Video light is identical to OMBAR, but it has a lower temperature range (3000K-6500K) and similar features. The light is well-priced and includes a tripod.

All in all

The OMBAR RGB Video Light is a great product. The OMBAR RGB Video Light is portable and has a large temperature range. It also provides enough brightness to meet my requirements. This light is very affordable compared with other products.

It has not been tried by me, however I would say that the Luminfox is my favorite product from the list. It has analogue wheels and diffused light that gives you one color.
