Google is ending another product- Google Cloud Print. The service launched in beta in 2010 and has been in beta ever since. The idea behind Google Cloud print is pretty cool- it’s an excellent printer-to-cloud bridge service that allows dumb printers to work with more modern devices like Chrome OS or smart phones. The service also allowed one to print over the internet remotely to their ‘dumb’ printer. Cloud Print was a success and many manufacturers even built in the Google service to their printers.

Google explains their decision to end Cloud Print by using their improved native printing experience for Chrome OS. Google says, “We recommend that over the next year, you identify an alternative solution and execute a migration strategy.”

RIP Google Cloud Print
