#WeArePlay | Discover what inspired 4 game creators around the world

Leticia Lago from Developer Marketing

A seemingly unimportant moment in your life could be what inspires you, whether it’s exploring the outdoors or buying your first computer. That’s what happened to four game studio founders featured in our latest release of #WeArePlay stories. Discover what inspired these game studio founders to create entertaining games for millions across the globe.

Born and raised in Salvador, Brazil, Filipe was so inspired by the city’s cultural heritage that he studied History before becoming a teacher. Filipe realized games could be an effective medium to communicate Brazilian culture and history to the outside world. So he founded Aoca Game Lab, and their first title, ÁRIDA: Backland’s Awakening, is a survival game based in the historic town of Canudos. Aoca Game Lab took part in the Indie Games Accelerator and have also been selected to receive the Indie Games Fund. These Google Play programs will help them take the studio and game to the next level.
#WeArePlay Marko Peaskel Nis, Serbia
Next up, Marko (Serbia). He was a Chemistry student but never had a real interest in technology. Then he got his first computer, and all of that changed. To pursue his passion, he quit his university degree and founded Peaksel. It has over 480,000,000 downloads. 100 Doors Games: School Escape is one of the most downloaded titles. It features over 100 levels that will challenge even the most experienced player.
#WeArePlay Liene Roadgames Riga Latvia
Let’s now move on to Liene, from Latvia. Liene is a brave woman who loves to explore the great outdoors. She organizes team building and orienteering-based games at work for her team. Roadgames was born out of their excitement as they explored the natural world. The Roadgames guides the players on adventurous scavenger hunting adventures, uncovering new terrain.
#WeArePlay Xin Savy Soda Melbourne, Australia
Xin, an Australian. After years working in corporate tech, he gave it all up to pursue his dream of making mobile games inspired by the 90’s video games he played as a child. His studio Pixel Starships is now his own and, despite the millions of downloads, he still gets plenty of feedback from his five year old child.
