Tech Moves – Kelly Smith from Athletic Greens, Seattle’s tech vet; Brex founder joins Expedia Board

— Longtime Pacific Northwest executive and entrepreneur Kelly Smith is now chief digital officer at Athletic Greens, a nutritional supplement beverage company. In January, the company received $115 million of funding at a value above $1 billion.

Smith was previously chief digital officer and chief information officer at Hagerty, a classic car insurer that went public last year in a SPAC deal valuing the company at more than $3 billion. Smith also previously was chief digital officer of MGM Resorts International and helped lead Starbucks’ digital and mobile app expansion from 2014 to 2017, most recently as its vice president of global digital products.

The Pacific Northwest technology industry also has other key personnel moves:

  • Amazon Studios Hire Sue Kroll As its chief marketing officer. The former Warner Bros. executive recently led the rollout of Amazon’s Lord of the Rings spinoff series The Rings of Power As a Marketing Consultant.

  • CurvaFixThe company, which sells medical equipment to fix fractures in curved bones and has added three members to its surgeon advisory board: Samir Mehta (Maria Rommens) and G. Karl Van Osten III.
  • NoriSeattle’s startup sells carbon credits that offset emissions. David Betz Head of brand marketing communications. Betz was previously at law firm Fenwick & West and is a former creative director at Microsoft.
  • Parisa Sadrzadeh She is currently senior vice president product and technology, small to medium-sized business at global logistics platform Flexport. In her previous role at Amazon she was vice president of the global delivery service partnership program.
