The best thing about subscribing family plans is the fact that the average cost is often lower than if each person signed up for individual plans. YouTube Premium subscribers will be disappointed to see that the average cost has risen a little.
YouTube Premium subscribers have begun to receive emails from YouTube. This email informs subscribers that YouTube will increase the price for the family plan. Americans will see an increase in price from $17.99 – $22.99 per month, which is roughly $5.
The affected countries that saw a price rise include Japan, Canada, the UK, Argentina and Turkey. Also, according to this Google support page, YouTube will be letting users know 30-days in advance before a price hike occurs, so if you live in a different country and haven’t received a notification about a price hike, then you’re safe, at least for now.
The good news is that this seems to only affect those who subscribe to YouTube Premium’s family plan. For those who subscribe to individual plans, $11.99 is the current price. This makes it marginally cheaper to subscribe for the family plan, even if you’re the only person.
