Netflix’s next move could be game streaming

Netflix is well-known for streaming movies and TV shows. Now it seems that the company might be considering leveraging its streaming skills to create their cloud gaming streaming service.

This was revealed by the company’s VP of games Mike Verdu during the TechCrunch Disrupt conference on Tuesday. Verdu claimed that Verdu said:

“We’re very seriously exploring a cloud gaming offering so that we can reach members on TVs and on PCs. We’re going to approach this the same way we did with mobile, which is start small, be humble, be thoughtful, and then build out. But it is a step we think we should take to meet members where they are on the devices where they consume Netflix.”

What’s interesting about this is that not too long ago, Google themselves called it quits on game streaming, so if a tech giant like Google couldn’t make it, we have to wonder if Netflix can. Netflix went into gaming not long ago to increase their appeal, but it appears that not many people know or care about the games.

We mentioned that Netflix is a streaming service with a lot more experience than Google so they might have a chance to win where Google has failed. Either way, we’ll have to wait and see, but what do you think? Do you think you would be interested in streaming Netflix games?
